Washington, Nov 28, 2025 – In a jaw-dropping interview on CNN’s The Arena, Rep. Eric Swalwell declared that the Democratic Party now functions like “Avengers”, standing up to fight President Donald Trump. The comments immediately set off a social media frenzy, with #DemAvengers trending, while Trump’s campaign quickly fired back.

Swalwell didn’t hold back naming those targeted by Trump: “Not a single person, from Mark Kelly, Elissa Slotkin, or even Jimmy Kimmel — who has been affected when his show was targeted by Trump — has flinched or hid under the bed. We are all standing up because we believe truth will always triumph over Trump.”
When host Kasie Hunt asked who’s leading the Democratic Party, Swalwell responded: “It’s the Avengers. Jasmine Crockett is heading to California to boost votes for Prop 50. Ruben Gallego is going to Iowa and New Hampshire — a former Marine, Latino, the first in his family to go to college. We all understand the mission: lower prices, period.” He added that during his Prop 50 campaign across the state, voters told him they were “scared and struggling with high costs of living.”But the political battle isn’t just words. Trump, in recent statements, immediately fired back, claiming Democrats “can’t fool the public” and calling the “Avengers” rhetoric a media stunt. Clips, tweets, and statements from Trump quickly spread online, undermining the credibility of Swalwell’s superhero metaphor and putting him directly in confrontation with the President.
Analysts note that comparing lawmakers and celebrities to superheroes is a bold PR move but highly controversial, especially by including Jimmy Kimmel, an entertainer, in a political narrative. Centrist voters warned that rhetoric about “defending the truth” and “fighting Trump” could escalate societal divisions rather than solve real problems.Nevertheless, Swalwell seems intent on sending a clear message: Democrats are young, diverse, united, and ready to fight for the people against policies they see as harmful under Trump — from lowering living costs and improving public services to resisting divisive moves from the President.
The question remains: Will this political Avengers team actually deliver results, or is it merely a media spectacle to take on Trump? With Prop 50 and key state campaigns coming up, the showdown between Democratic “Avengers” and Trump is shaping up to be the most intense political battle of the year.
